The FUTURA TEAM has chosen only commercial materials from the very beginning. This choice can be translated in the possibility of realizing a good performanc car that is destined to not be at the same competition level as other solar vehicles that use experimental materials. Also, we underline the fact that a vehicle that uses experimental materials costs about 100 times more than a vehicle built in economy and with commercial materials. It shouldn't be forgotten that in 1996 the solar powerwd car that won the race at WSC was built by Honda with a declared cost of 5,000,000 USD$, and a few sources affermed that the cost was up to 15,000,000 USD$.
