Futura 2 uses a state of the age technology that is however commercially available. The frame is made of tubular aluminium ERGAL 70/20 that together with an adequate geometry makes it extremely robust. The external shell is made of CARBON and NOMEX The frame is anchored to the shell with carbon sheets and by arches that strengthen the part where the frame does not reach. The two elements anchored in this manner, make a single body structurally light but of an elevated resistance. The anterior suspension is designed on the basis of a motorcycle and uses two steel arms with reinforced springs and hydraulic damping. The posterior suspension is made of an aluminium arm, helicoidal spring and hydraulic dampers, these too based on motorcycle design, and adopts disks on the three wheels. The asynchronic triphase engine was realized for high efficiency. Asynchronic engines are rarely mounted in solar cars, however the Futura team collaborated in the designing of this engine with MGM electric motors and found very positive results.
