_____WHAT IS "FUTURA"_____ |

"Futura" is an eletrical vehicle
that recieves its energy necessary for movement, by means of photovoltaic cells,
directly from sun rays. "Futura" was born in 1996 along with the idea of participating in the "World Solar Challenge 1996", the most important race reserved to solar energy powered cars. The competion extends for a total of 3000km crossing the entire Australian continent from Darwin in the north to Adelaide in the south. "Futura" was born from a vocation for adventure of a small group of friends animated by an infinite passion, a spirit of competition and a desire to confront other realities of advanced technology. fondamental to this passion is the conviction that research for alternative renewable energy systems, like solar energy, is of vital importance to bettering the quality of life of each and everyone of us. Perhaps our near future will see only ecological cars (without emmision of tossic substances); but for sure, it isnow already possible to move about, and with ottimal results, with solar powered vehicles where climate conditions are favorable. At the actual state of knowledge it is possible, with an ottimal solation and with experimental materials, maintain an average speed of 90 km/h. With commercially available materials the average speed slows to about 70 km/h. It is "Futura's" intention to use only commerciallly available materials (the rapport between realizzation costs of a car that uses experimental materials and that which uses comercailly available materials is 100:1). -------------------------- end page ---------------------------- |
